QISS Weekly Update: Week 19 – 2016-2017

Table of Contents

Dear QISS Families and Friends,

Happy New Year! Welcome back to QISS for 2017.

We hope you had a safe, pleasant and restful Winter Break. Many of you traveled home for Christmas and other festivities. Others took the opportunity to escape the cold and visit exotic places around the world. Wherever you went, we hope you had a great time, and are well rested and ready to get stuck into 2017. We welcome you back for the second semester of the 2016-2017 academic year. The rest of the school year is shaping up to be just as vibrant and exciting as the first half, with lots of deep learning and inquiry happening at all grade levels. As classes begin their 3rd unit of inquiry, we are already seeing wonderful student work being displayed throughout the school.

We are only back at school for three short week before breaking for Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), but we have plenty planned for that time. Next Tuesday (January 17th) is a student half-day, while teachers will engage in professional development programs. From January 20 to 22, our students will attend the CISS Model United Nations (MUN). Just before break, on Wednesday, January 25th, our annual China Day celebrations will be held in the QISS theatre. This year’s China Day is shaping up to be a spectacular performance, so we encourage all parents to make the effort to attend. As our host country, is it appropriate that we value and cherish Chinese culture. China Day is a great opportunity for us to learn more about the history and culture of this fascinating nation.
