Dear QISS families and friends,

Believe it or not we are now through week 20 of the academic year. Despite the cold weather, we continue to be surrounded by the warmth and positivity of our dedicated teachers, who work hard every day to make our school a special and inviting place to study. This week we celebrated the 2015-2016 Academic Year Festival of Words. From the opening ceremony on Monday, through to the activities during the week and the closing ceremony on Friday, this Festival of Words was an amazing success. Our students competed in Spelling Bees, numerous other literacy related games and activities, and we were visited by a Book Fair, with hundreds of books available.

MUNOQ and CISSMUN

The QISS MUN team has participated in two recent conferences, MUNOQ (Qingdao) and CISSMUN (Shanghai). Our team showed very well at each of these conferences and have made QISS proud.

MUNOQ was a conference held here in Qingdao at the Holiday Inn. there were approximately 120 student/delegates from many schools participating. The QISS student/delegates were excellent at this conference with several of them earning individual awards in their committees.

CISSMUN Conference was held in Shanghai at the Concordia International School campus. There were 800 delegates in attendance coming from 30 countries and three continents. This was an awesome experience for our student/delegates and a conference we hope to attend for years to come.

Dear QISS families and friends,

Wow! 2015 at QISS has drawn to a conclusion. Quarter two is behind us and we now prepare to take a break for Christmas and New Years. On January 11th we will burst into 2016, ready to take on the world and continue our mission of developing mindful hearts.

As we reflect on the year as a community, I would like to especially recognise the teachers at QISS. Each and every day they pour their hearts and souls into developing our children to their maximum potential. Through thick and thin they are there as pillars of our community providing warmth, kindness, wisdom and knowledge. It is through their amazing efforts that QISS has become such a fantastic school. Teachers: THANK YOU!

We hope that everyone has a very safe and enjoyable festive season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Holiday Gala Thanks to the PTA

Below is a note of appreciation from the Head of the School Development department, Mrs. Teston:

"This is just a heartfelt THANKS from  the School Development Office to the PTA for the Holiday Gala they put on for QISS. The 2015 Holiday Gala was absolutely the best I have had the honor to be able to attend! The team that I was able to be a part of and work with was very well organized and very intent on making sure that everything was perfect.  That group of ladies worked so hard and worked so well together.  They produced an amazing night of fun for the entire QISS Community and we are extremely grateful for their time and their commitment to our students and our staff here at QISS. QISS 2015 Winter Concert

Dear QISS families and friends,

Week 17 of the Academic Year is now complete. Both the second quarter Key Assignments and the Winter Concert were amazing successes!

Key Assignments are the life-blood of what we do here at QISS. They are the culmination of all the inquiry that students have done throughout the quarter in their respective subjects. Students relish the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout the quarter to their parents, family, teachers, classmates and other students within the school. We thank you for coming along to be a part of this valuable community experience.

After Key Assignments we had the Winter Program. The students and teachers worked incredibly hard to prepare the music and acts for you. The theme of the Winter Concert this year was "The Toymaker's Workshop: A blizzard has come to town and has slowed the toymaker's shipping process and we are afraid that the toys won't make it on time". I'm sure that everyone who attended can agree it was one of our most successful Winter Concerts ever. All of the feedback has been very positive. We would like to thank Mr. Solomon for his dedication and talent in putting on such a great show.
