Announcements

• QISS would like to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year and all the best in the Year of the Dragon! 新年快乐
• Upper School report card were sent home today. Please review the grades and comment with your child and return the signed envelope after the Spring Festival Holiday.
• Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in Wednesday's China Day performance. It was a tremendous display of talent and culture.
• QISS is offering a Writer's Workshop series for students in Grades 1 to 5 and their parents. The workshops will take place over three consecutive Saturdays in February (11th, 18th and 25th). Please see the Lower School Principal's Newsletter for times and sign-up information.
• Lower School Intramurals will continue during lunch time after the Chinese New Year holiday. See the weekly schedule below. Grades 3, 4 and 5 Soccer still to be announced  Students need to sign up with their homeroom teachers.

The Shark's Tale

• In preparation for the upcoming ACAMIS Basketball Tournament in Suzhou (February 9 - 11) the QISS Varsity Girls Basketball team will play against the QISS Girl Guppies (teachers) today after school.
• QISS is looking for people interested coaching High School Soccer. Please contact Mr. Adie (dadie@qiss.org.cn) if you are interested.

QISS Art Happenings

• On Tuesday January 17th LS Art hosted a visit from the New Century School art teachers. They visited a class and had a tour of the campus. We will be working together towards an exhibition later this fall including grades 1-5 tentatively called " Looking at Qingdao through the Eyes of a Child".
• On Thursday January 19 a delegation from the Qingdao Metro Creative Contest will be visiting LS Art to pick up our entries. Grades 3 and 5 created ideas based on the Qingdao Metro. The contest had two parts - a model design contest and a mascot design contest - we did both - wish us luck!!
• Grade 4 completed a dragon that was used in the China Day celebrations. They worked really hard on the dragon and they were excited to seeing it dance.
