Students from all grades performed John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" at last weekend's QISS Winter Program
Announcements
- Thank all of the students, parents and staff members who attended and took part in the QISS Winter Program last Saturday. It was a nice opportunity to get the entire school community together during the festive season.
- During the Winter Vacation, the QISS Main Office will be open from Monday to Friday (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) except for January 2 and 3.
- A big thank-you to Ms. Lena Nordstrom for her outstanding service as a Middle School Language Arts and Comunication Skills teacher. Ms. Nordstrom is leaving Qingdao during the Winter Vacation as her family relocates to Moscow. Best of luck!
- Best wishes for a healthy, happy baby to Ms. Yulia Sumarokova as she begins her maternity leave in January.
- QISS would like to welcome Ms. Roz Murel and Ms. Jana Halikova, both qualified teachers, to the QISS staff. Ms. Murel will be taking over Ms. Nordstroms class and Ms. Halikova will be filling for Ms. Yulia's ESL classes.
- Students from 10th and 11th grades received their PSAT scores on Tuesday afternoon. Our students did very well and students are encouraged to share the results with their parents so that they can better understand their own learning. The score report also offers opportunities for students to research colleges and careers of interest.
- QISS would like to specifically congratulate a couple of students who did exceptionally well on the Math section of the PSAT. Leo Hong and Alex Lim both scored in the 98th percentile while Yoonmin Cho and Martin Lim scored in the 99th percentile. Approximately 3.5 million students take the PSAT each year and these QISS students scored above 98 percent of them. Congratulations!!!
