Announcements

  • It is that time of year when we need feedback from parents regarding intentions for the 2011-2012 school year. A re-enrollment letter was sent home with students before Spring Break. Please complete the form and return it to the school as soon as possible. If you require a new copy of the form, please click here. Re-enrollment survey for 2011-2012.pdf
  • Congratulations to all of the talented QISS students who took part in the QISN Talent Showcase on Tuesday at KISQ. A special commendation goes to grade 7 student Zhen Wang who was awarded "Best in Show" for his piano performance. Great job!
  • Good luck to the QISS Boys and Girls Soccer Teams who are in Beijing this weekend for the ACAMIS Tournament. Thursday's games saw the Boys Team win and the Girls Team draw. Go Sharks!
  • Congratulations to the Boys Soccer Team for their 3-1 victory over KISQ on Monday.
  • Reminder that next Saturday (April 23) is the QISS Talent Show. This is a mandatory school day. School will be in session from 9:00 to 11:30. Busses will pick students up 30 minutes later than normal and we will dismiss at 11:30.
  • QISS will be welcoming the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) Accreditation Team from April 23 to 28. A draft of the WASC Accreditation Self Study Report can be found on the school’s website at www.qiss.org.cn. The accreditation report is important because it validates the integrity of the school’s program, assures the school community that the school’s purposes are appropriate and assists the school in establishing areas of strengths and areas for improvement.  If you have comments on the report would you please address them to: qisscomments@hotmail.com.  We look forward to receiving your comments.
  • The GIG "Jiao for Japan" fundraiser is in full swing with a healthy amount of competition between homerooms to see which homeroom can raise the most money to support relief efforts in Japan. The winning homeroom will be awarded a pizza party. The fundraiser runs from through Wednesday, April 20. GIG thanks you for your continued generosity and support.
  • AP Exams begin Monday, May 2 with the AP Chemstry Exam at 8:00 a.m. All AP exams must be paid for by the end of April, otherwise students cannot take the exam. Payments may be made in the school office. Click the following link for a detailed AP test calendar. AP calendar letter 2011.pdf

Grade Four Trip to Laoshan Water Facility

In their unit on Opportunities versus Limitations, the Grade 4 students inquired about the human right for healthy food and water. Students visited the Laoshan water plant and saw how they are provided with clean water supplied by the local resources. Students learned about the types of water produced by the Laoshan water plant, the places of its origin and the places to which Laoshan water is exported. All of the students were reflective of the technology they saw and extended their experience by designing their own way of making more potable water accessible to the public. If you want to know more about the trip, feel free to ask the Grade 4 students. They would probably love to tell you about the Laoshan Cola they recieved on the trip as well.
