Thank you for your interest in teaching at Qingdao No. 1 International School, Shandong Province (QISS).
 
QISS services a small student body of approximately 215 students from 20 countries in grades Pre-K to 12.  We follow a North American style, standards-based curriculum enriched by international best practices with a student-centered approach to instruction.  Students benefit from outstanding teachers, a challenging academic program, small class sizes and a warm, nurturing environment. Teachers work collaboratively at all levels to continuously evaluate and improve student learning.  Our international staff comes from over 10 countries.

QISS Faculty Employment Requirements

  • a recognized teaching certificate
  • a minimum of two years' relevant teaching experience
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the philosophy, mission and goals of QISS
  • A satisfactory personnel record
  • An expressed commitment to devote time for extra-curricular activities beyond the normal teaching day
  • Evidence of work and attitude indicating an ongoing interest in improving and increasing professional knowledge and skills
  • A genuine love of teaching and passion for helping children to grow and learn

Desirable but not Required

  • A masters degree
  • PYP training or experience for elementary teachers
  • Certification to teach more than one subject area
Current Part-Time Openings:

- Substitute Teachers:

Persons with teacher training or experience are invited to apply to
substitute teach at QISS. If interested, please forward your resume to
either Alberto Gutierrez, Lower School Principal or Bill Corey, Upper School Principal.

*[If placed on our Substitute Teacher Registry, you will be called when a
teacher in your area is absent. Our current substitute teacher pay is
400 rmb per day.]

- Private Tutors:

QISS students occasionally are in need of additional help with English,
math, study skills, or other subjects. Persons with excellent English
proficiency and familiarity with Western-style education can ask to be
placed on our Tutor List. If interested, contact: Dana Purpura, Counselor

Application Procedure

Applicants for full-time teaching positions at QISS should forward a cover letter, a QISS Faculty Application form, your resume, and letters of recommendation to our Director, Mr. Jeffrey Fischmann, or alternatively indicate an interest through the International Schools Services, SEARCH Associates, or The International Educator.

Applicants should be aware that those who have arranged for a personal interview in China or through the agencies will be more likely to attain positions than those who we have not met personally. A QISS recruiter will attend the following recruiting fairs:
